Richard Tan Tiong Heng has done his MBBS, Grad. Dip. in Acupuncture, Grad. Dip. in Occupational Medicine, is a registered Family Physician and a Designated Workplace Doctor, and currently works as a Principal Resident Physician in Sengkang Health at Alexandra Hospital in Singapore. He holds special interest in Acupuncture, Geriatric Medicine and Occupational Health. He has been offering acupuncture as a complementary treatment to patients mainly for chronic pain such as chronic pelvic pain, muscular skeletal pain as well as for stroke. He has also presented seminars throughout Australia, New Zealand, Germany, and the USA. Dr. Jaffe has more than 40 years of experience contributing to molecular biology and clinical diagnostics. His focus is on functional, predictive tests and procedures designed to improve the precision of both diagnosis and of treatment outcomes and he has authored nearly 100 articles on the subject. He received his B.S., MD and Ph.D. from the Boston University School of Medicine, completed residency training in clinical chemistry at the National Institutes of Health and remained on the permanent senior staff before pursuing other interests, including starting the Health Studies Collegium think tank

Dr.Jacob completed his Master’s Degree in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine at AOMA Graduate School of Integrative Medicine in 2005. He furthered his clinical and research education by earning his Doctor of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine degree from Oregon College of Oriental Medicine in 2014. He has 10 years of clinical experience running a successful private practice. Dr. Godwin practices acupuncture based on evidence-based physiological models and is a strong advocate for the development of these models. He has also published on the importance of research-literacy and evidence-based medicine for acupuncturists. Dr. Godwin brings a passion for science and research to his role as Vice-President of the American Association of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine and as the founding chairperson of the AAAOM Acupuncture Science and Research Committee. He sees science and research as a way forward for the profession, a way that will ensure a future for acupuncture that is just as impressive as its past.

Dr. Chen graduated from the Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine in 1985 after 5 years training in acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine and western medicine. He completed his Ph.D. in Traditional Chinese Medicine at Beijing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine in 2012. Dr. Chen serves as a Commissioner (Educator Member) and the Secretary of Accreditation Commission of Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine (ACAOM). Dr. Chen has practiced acupuncture and Chinese medicine for more than 27 years, especially having rich experience in treating different neurological and mental-emotional disorders as well as providing acupuncture care for women’s health and cancer patients. He has published more than 40 research papers in various medical journals in different countries, two of which were cited in Current Bibliographies in Medicine: Acupuncture (1970 -1997) by the National Library of Medicine. He has also published eight acupuncture books, such as The Effectiveness of Acupuncture Treatment on Various Diseases(1990) and Guide of Consulting Acupuncture(1994) and in 1992 he participated in writing two large-scale reference works: New Edition of Chinese Acupuncture & Moxibustion and Complete Works of Chinese Acupuncture & Moxibustion. He is a Fellow of the International College of Acupuncture and Electro-Therapeutics (F.I.C.A.E.), a Visiting Professor of Acupuncture & Traditional Chinese Medicine in the ICAE and an Editorial Committee member of Acupuncture & Electro-Therapeutics Research, the International Journal. Dr. Chen is also an Executive Council member of the World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies (WFCMS) and the Executive President of the National Federation of Chinese TCM Organizations (NFCTCMO).

Oleg Maksimov was born in Moscow, Russia, and moved to the United States in 1995. He received his PhD in Chemistry from the City University of New York in February 2002. After graduation he worked as a Postdoctoral Research Assistant in the Department of Physics of the Pennsylvania State University (2002-2004) and as a Research Associate in the Materials Research Institute at the Pennsylvania State University (2003-2005). Since then Dr. Maksimov has worked as Adjunct Faculty and Subject Matter Expert for a number of schools, developed online courses, and taught General, Organic, and Biochemistry, Pharmacognosy and Phytochemistry, Toxicology and Safety in Botanical Medicine, and Aromatherapy. He has also published more than 60 articles in peer-reviewed journals and acted as a program evaluator for the American Council on Education and a proposal reviewer for the Research Foundation of City University of New York.

Dr. Steven Collins, DOM, Lac, has been practicing Chinese medicine since 2001. Focusing on acupuncture, tui na, qi kung and other tools from the toolbox of Chinese medicine, he treats many complaints including pain of all sorts, fatigue and “sticky” diseases. He is well regarded in the medical community and by his patients. He began his medical studies in the mid-eighties. After graduating from the University of Central Florida with a degree in psychology, he became a paramedic. He worked in Las Vegas and in Florida for eight years prior to becoming the Director of Continuing Education for Emergency Medicine of Valencia College in Orlando. After becoming a Registered Nurse, he accepted the position of Education Director for Highlands Hospital in North Carolina. He worked in the areas of chemical dependency, psychology and emergency medicine. In 1997, he pursued the study of Chinese medicine. Following his 2001 graduation from Northwestern Health Sciences University, one of the leading schools of Chinese medicine in the country, he was asked to join that faculty. He became board-certifed to practice and had a successful private practice in Oakdale, Minnesota before returning to practice in Florida. His work has appeared in national publications and he has lectured across the country on a number of aspects of Chinese medicine including tui na and herb-drug interactions. He is currently authoring a text on enhancing communication between health care professionals and their patients or colleagues.

Dr. Li received her Chinese medicine education from the Heilongjiang University of Chinese Medicine (HLJUCM) in China from 1976 – 1984. After that, she was appointed as a full time faculty in HLJUCM, engaged in research, teaching and practice. As a key research member for the project of “Liver Qi Stagnation and Its Biomedicine Substance”, she participated in many group projects and completed the final write up. In 1989, the project received the Highest Prize from the Chinese Medicine Bureau of Heilongjiang Province. In 1992, she was a visiting scholar at Brown University. From 1993 to 1996, she was a senior postdoctoral research fellow at Harvard University, Harvard Medical School. In 2004 she was appointed to the faculty of New York Chiropractic College teaching many TCM courses. Additionally, she has served as a faculty clinician at the college’s outpatient health center acupuncture clinic in Rochester at the Lifetime Care facility. She has published more than 30 papers and books in both Chinese and English and presented in many national and international conferences. Dr. Li has also given television presentations about Acupuncture and chronic pain in Toronto Canada. Dr. Li has pursued her TCM career for her whole life. She earned her Ph.D. from HLJUCM in 2008 as an international student.

Brian is an Internationally Certified Addictions Counsellor, Certified Child and Youth Counsellor and a Registered Trainer for the National Acupuncture Detoxification Association (NADA). He has over 15 years of clinical experience in mental health and addictions and has worked in a variety of settings, including the youth criminal justice system, community treatment agencies and hospital based inpatient and outpatient treatment programs. He is currently employed at Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre as a Counsellor and an Addictions Specialist where he has developed and maintains a NADA program for patients and staff. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for NADA and maintains a private practice based out of Barrie Ontario.
