There are several specific techniques in traditional acupuncture which can be used as individual treatments. Trigger point acupuncture is practised by osteopaths and physiotherapists to treat musculo-skeletal pain. Auricular acupuncture uses acupuncture points located on the ear which is often used with other styles of acupuncture or on its own. In western medical diagnosis, basic needling techniques are used within the framework to relieve symptoms such as pain and headache.
